Bengaluru, NFAPost: Elon Musk’s Tesla has received a big boost to its revenues after its Cybertruck pre-order sales took off in the last few months. Riding on the popularity of electric vehicles, the highly unconventional Cybertruck design has won over half a million pre-orders.
Although Tesla hasn’t officially confirmed these numbers, the Cybertruck community portal Cybertruckownersclub.com claims that its estimated pre-orders have surpassed the 500,000 mark.
“The 522,764 pre-orders represents an average of 5,873 orders received per day in the 89 days since (and including) reveal night,” the aggregated data explains.
According to the data estimate, the single-motor variant of the Cybertruck accounts for 17% of the pre-order sales at a starting price of $40,000. In contrast, its dual and tri-motor variants have grabbed the lion’s share of pre-orders at 42% and 41% respectively.
These stats may be taken with a pinch of salt as they are unofficial numbers that are not yet verified or updated by Tesla. Nevertheless, Musk’s official figures suggest that the Cybertruck had crossed 250,000 pre-orders in the first week of its release in November.
Given its explosive pre-order sales for the first week of November, the Cybertruck is well on course to surpass the 500,000 mark anytime soon. In that context, the given data estimate of pre-orders appears plausible.
Tesla is expected to launch the two high-end variants of Cybertruck by late 2021. That date, however, seems just an optimistic ETA as the company has a history of underwhelming production targets.
Musk hasn’t been happy with Bill Gates choosing a Porsche Taycan over a Tesla as it could invariably influence other buyers like in the case of this tweet (below):
