Indian cricket team boasts of many heroes. And this was on display in the first of the three Test Freedom series against South Africa for the Gandhi -Mandela trophy at Vishakhapatnam on Sunday.

With this win are clearly well ahead of the rest in the rankings in the World Test championship with 160 points.

Rohit Sharma As Opener

Rohit Sharma made his elevation as opener in the Test team made a telling statement scoring 176 and 127 in the two innings as opener while Mayank Agarwa playing only his fifth Test – scored a brilliant 215 in the first innings.

Dependable Cheteshwar Pujara shifted gears abruptly as the situation warranted to make 81 in the second knock.

Ashwin’s Contribution

If Ravichandra Ashwin picked seven for 145 to restrict SA to 431 in the first first essay Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock notching up centuries – Mohd Shami and Ravindra Jadeja pouched five n four wickets respectively to bowl out the visitors for just 191 to give India a 203 victory..going into the second Test in three days from now..with a 1-0 headstart.

Kohli Impact

South Africa captain while lauding the Indians while Virat Kohli looked visibly excited at the overall team effort. ” Rohit was brilliant at the top in both innings to put us in a position of strength which enabled us to step in and increase the tempo..while the bowlersbowled stump to stump to get rich rewards,” said Virat Kohli.
